As far as the rap game goes, Lil Bow Wow and Lil Romeo are the two biggest child stars in the genre. But as they transitioned into their teen years in the early 2000s, things appeared to go sour between the two stars.
Bow Wow Says He Never Had Beef With Lil Romeo
However, during a recent interview on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, Bow Wow says that the feud between him and Lil Romeo was more fan fiction than anything else. And it began with a line on Bow Wow’s hit song Fresh Azimiz, where fans thought that the rapper had targeted Lil Romeo’s father, Master P.
“What’s crazy is I never beefed with Rome,” Bow Wow said. “The fans made it a thing because I said the line in ‘Fresh Azimiz,’ ‘Eighteen n***a making more money to your dad.’ In reality, people don’t know that’s not even my bar.”
Bow Wow says that he was never talking about Master P. It was more of a generalization of how he felt about himself at the time.
“That’s how I felt. I feel like all the young cats, you know, all the girls like me, and that was just a proper flex to pop it back on their little boyfriends. I’m eighteen, making more than your daddy. But the people took that like, ‘Oh, he got to be talking about him.’”
Bow Wow went on to talk about how much respect he has for Master P. As both an artist and an innovator.
“Like I Got the Hook Up, everything that he ever did, bro. I’m a real hip-hop baby,” he continued. “I respect P, I love P. I love everything he did for the culture. First n***a I know who really made a 100 Ms off this shit. I respect that. Out of the trunk, too. That’s tough.”
At the time of writing, Lil Romeo has not responded to Bow Wow’s comments.
