Battle rap star Hitman Holla has a bone to pick with the media. Specifically, DJ Akademiks and the Joe Budden Podcast crew, regarding the recent arrest of battle rapper Geechi Gotti.
Hitman Holla Goes Off on Joe Budden & DJ Akademiks
During a recent interview, Hitman called out DJ Akademiks for never posting anything positive about battle rap. But was one of the first bloggers to post about Geechi’s arrest.
“Geechi just went viral, unfortunately. So battle rap is back in the blogs. You know that’s the only time that they post us. It’s when it’s negative or something bad,” he said (via BillionairePolo/X). “Like Akademiks ain’t post one good thing about battle rap. But he got a big audience. The first time they hear about battle rap is when they see that you know what I’m saying?”

He also goes on to rip Budden and the co-hosts of his podcast. Noting how they found the humor in Geechi’s arrest during a recent episode. But they just had him as a guest on the podcast shortly before his arrest.
“Joe Budden and them are laughing at Geechi. But Geechi was just sitting on their couch. Wasn’t nobody laughing at Geechi when Geechi was on that couch,” he continued. “That’s what happens, bro. I just want ya’ll to know. Every time something happens with battle rap, all we got is us. But ya’ll be d*** eating the mainstream and all of this other s**t. They’re gonna f**k with us when it’s hot, but the first chance we get, they’re gonna laugh at us, bro.”
Geechi Gotti was arrested on February 5 in West Chester, Ohio, following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of approximately 3,000 stolen opioid pills. He faces four felony counts of drug possession and one count of failure to comply with a police order.
