Joe Budden has responded to Hitman Holla’s criticism of his podcast’s coverage of battle rap star Geechi Gotti’s recent arrest.

Joe Budden Responds to Hitman Holla

Holla had lashed out on Joe’s podcast. Accusing them of only highlighting the negative news when it comes to battle rappers and never the positives.

However, during the February 18th episode of his self-named podcast, Budden hit back at those accusations. Noting that his podcast highlights battle rap more than most mainstream media platforms.

“I would say that, as far as mainstream goes, we discuss battle rap more than the rest of them. And I mean, I don’t even want to dignify that because it is just stupid,” Budden said on Wednesday (via KingDNATooth/X). “When I saw what Hitman Holla had to say, I thought to myself, ‘damn, he missed the ball on some of this.'”

Budden goes on to say that he was never having a conversation about “battle rap,” per se. He says that his comments were more of a call to action. For black men like Geechi Gotti to make better decisions.

“I personally was never having a battle rap conversation about Geechi Gotti. I was having a betterment of black men conversation,” Budden added. “I don’t give a f**k about Geechi Gotti battling anymore. If he never battles again, I don’t care. I want him and everybody else to be in a position where they can make better decisions, not to be faced with some of the desperation that leads us to making those types of decisions.”

Geechi Gotti was arrested earlier this month during a traffic stop in Ohio. During that stop, police found approximately 3,000 stolen opioid pills. He faces four felony counts of drug possession and one count of failure to comply with a police order.

At the time of writing, Hitman Holla has not responded to Joe Budden.
