A tragic shooting near the grand opening of The Marathon Burger in Long Beach has left one person dead and two others injured.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 200 block of Pine Avenue, near the Pine Square shopping center. When authorities arrived, they discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three victims were transported to a nearby hospital. Police confirmed that one of the victims later succumbed to their injuries. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
Investigators are continuing to gather details surrounding the incident, including what may have led to the shooting and whether any suspects are in custody. The area, which was drawing attention due to the opening of the popular burger spot, was quickly secured as officers canvassed the scene for evidence.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Long Beach Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
