In 2025, Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted of interstate prostitution. And sentenced to 50 months in prison. But Usher doesn’t believe that a conviction makes the Bad Boy Records founder guilty.
Usher Insists That Diddy Has Been ‘Misrepresented’
The U Got It Bad creator recently sat down with Forbes’ The Enterprise Zone. And during his interview, Usher said that he believes that Combs has been “misrepresented” in the media.
“In many ways, I think certain people are prosecuted and maybe not recognized for the greatness that they offer,” Usher said as heard through PEOPLE. “I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs because my experience was not what the world has seen and how he’s been misrepresented.”
Combs was staring down an even deeper hole when he was arrested by the feds in September 2024. He was also on trial for trafficking people via his now-infamous Hollywood parties, also known as freak-offs.
But despite all that has been revealed about Combs, Usher says that he chooses to “acknowledge” the “valuable contributions” Combs has made. Rather than revisit what he has done in the past.
“I can’t, with any sense of humanity, not recognize the valuable contributions that this man made,” Usher continued. “For us as Black entrepreneurs, for us as businessmen, for us as people who transition culture and ideas into something tangible and becomes business,”
He also added, “So many people benefited from what he created. And I acknowledge that. And that’s why I see him as legacy.”
Combs is set to be released from prison in April 2028
