2 Chainz Recalls Carmelo Getting Upset With Him
2 Chainz recently appeared on Anthony’s 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast. And revealed a story about how Melo got upset with him during a pick-up game in 2017.
The rap star begins the story by revealing that he knew he had made a serious mistake. Because he has never seen Melo lose his cool, 2 Chainz was invited to a pick-up game by NBA trainer Drew Hanlan, who has worked with the likes of Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid. He wanted to show off his skills.
The pick-up game featured several NBA players. Including Bradley Beal, Trae Young, and Kelly Oubre. And with 2 Chainz’s confidence at an all-time high, he wanted to prove that he belonged.
The rap star recalls Hanlan putting him on the team with Melo. And after hitting his first shot of the game, 2 Chainz’s confidence was through the roof. With him feeling good about himself, 2 Chainz ignored Melo calling for the ball on the next two offensive trips and instead looked to find his own shot.
By the third time, Melo got fed up and shouted at the rap star and demanded that he “pass the f*****g ball,” which left the rapper shocked.
Melo goes on to say that the pick-up game took place during the summertime, also known as the NBA offseason. So Melo used the invitation to sharpen his skills against other NBA players — and 2 Chainz was getting in the way of that.
All in all, neither party took that much offense to the exchange. As they are able to laugh about it years later.
