NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant and R&B star Brandy briefly dated in the 1990s. And according to one former Moesha actor, he did not mess around when it came to his feelings about her.
‘Moesha’ Actor Says Kobe ‘Socked’ Wanya Over Brandy Relationship
Brandy was also romantically involved with Boyz II Men star Wanya Morris. And Kobe used to hang around the set on the television show a lot. According to former Moesha actor Spanky Hayes, Wanya and Kobe came to blows one day when they were both on the set.
“I saw him sock Wanya from Boys II Men in the mouth over her. With a cast on. He had a cast on one of his hands and socked him out. With a cast on, he had a cast on one of his hands and socked him out,” Hayes said as caught by KollegeKidd on X.
“[Kobe] would be there all the time, and Wanya was trying to be on Brandy. Or maybe that was his girlfriend. I don’t know. But Kobe just came and took the b***h and socked him. I was right there, I saw it. Hollywood is a m*****f****r.”

Of course, there were a lot of reactions to Spanky’s comments.
“Spanky Hayes is trying his best to be relevant, like whoever is willing to listen to Spanky, he wants to do an interview,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Sounds possible, but he’s a pathological liar, so I wouldn’t count on it lol,” a second person chimed in.
The story lines up with the timeline. Kobe famously took Moesha to the Lower Merion High School prom in 1996 and was rumored to have dated her. In 1996, Kobe suffered a sprained wrist during a pick-up game. And there is an iconic photo of him wearing a cast behind the scenes of the 1996 NBA Rookie photo shoot.
