Fetty Wap admitted that loyalty cost him in early in his career.
During a recent sit-down on The Crew Has It, the “Trap Queen” rapper revealed he gave away his first $1 million check to a close friend, honoring a promise he made before fame hit.
“First million dollar check… I gave it to him. Never seen it again—and never seen him again,” Fetty admitted.
He explained the move came from loyalty. The friend had helped fund his early grind, so when the money came in—split into two $500K checks—Fetty didn’t hesitate.
While the situation ultimately cost him both the money and the friendship, Fetty says there’s no bad blood. He chalks it up to a lesson learned during a time when everyone involved was still figuring life out.
“I don’t fault nobody… we just ain’t know too much,” he said.
At the time, he was focused on longevity, not one check. “I knew that million was gonna come again… I keep my word.”
