Drake is becoming the boy who cried Iceman. From DJ Akademiks false claims, to even fooling the internet’s busiest music nerd Anthony Fantano, it seems even if you claim you’ve heard Iceman, people will report on it. But last night, finally, something notable happened with its rollout.
What Event Happened That Could Signal Iceman’s Impending Release
Early Friday morning (April 17th), the Toronto sky ignited into orange after a controlled explosion occurred near Downsview airport, a disused military base. While several people not in the area were left scared and confused, especially considering these uncertain times, it appears the explosion is simply a pyrotechnic stunt.
A warning to residents read: “During the week of April 13, in the evening, residents and visitors may notice loud noises, flashes of light, and/or smoke in the area for short periods of time,” The statement read. “These effects are part of a pre-approved controlled activity occurring at Downsview Park and will be conducted by licensed professionals in coordination with Toronto Police and Fire Services. There is no risk to public safety.”
While the warning dispelled rightful fear for the residents of Toronto, it left one question. What was the explosion for?
It appears Drake may have something to do with it. On Instagram, Drake screenshotted the story and posted an angel face emoji next to an ice emoji.
Drake then posted pictures of the smoke in the background and then another that showed the orange glow in the distance. Reports state the explosion may be tied to an upcoming music video under the moniker “Project Bot” for Drake’s Iceman.
Outside of cheeky story posts, Drake has not commented on the rumors.

What Is Happening With Drake Album Iceman?
Speculation has run rampant on the album, to the point where anyone who comments on it gets aggregated.
During a conversation with the Danza Project, influencer Chris Blake Griffith, while addressing his viral alleged DM leak of Drake, asked a hypothetical question to answer why Drake’s rumored album Iceman has been delayed for so long.
“If you were suing your employer, do you think they would put dollars and cents behind your project?,” Griffith asked. “I felt like the album was supposed to come out, I’m sure a lot of people did. But (Drake) lost the suit, with an intention to appeal. If you appeal, we go right back into court. He has interrogatories that he has to supply responses to by like late April or something.”
Drake has not responded to Griffith’s claims.
During a livestream with rapper DDG, influencer BenDaDonn proclaimed that that he heard a few songs off the album.
“I was like ‘this s*** going crazy,’” BenDaDonn said. “I told (Drake) ‘we wanna hear some more bars.’ He had some turned up club s***, he had some s*** for the ladies and I’m like ‘bro I’m trying to hear some bars.’ And he was like ‘you know what, say no more.’
BenDaDonn claims that this conversation got Drake to scratch several songs off the record to include more bars.
He later clarified on social media that he was yapping and hadn’t had any effect on the album’s sound.
