Drake has been collecting records like infinity stones for years now. But his latest acquisition has fans believing that he just may be the greatest artist of his generation.
Charlamagne Reacts to Drake Claiming Michael Jackson’s Record
Drizzy’s hit record from his Iceman album, Janice STFU, took the top spot in this week’s Billboard Hot 100. This is significant because it officially gives him the most number one hits by a male solo artist. A record previously held by pop icon Michael Jackson.
But on the Wednesday (May 27) episode of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, radio host Charlamagne the God offered an interesting perspective on Drake officially surpassing the King of Pop. Charlamagne the God says that numbers don’t necessarily equal impact. And Drake surpassing Jackson on the all-time hits further supports that claim.
“This is why I say numbers lie. ‘Cause does Drake have the numbers? Yes. Does Drake have music that will stand the test of time? Yes. But, we know that a lot of the music that Drake makes does not have the cultural impact of an ‘Off the Wall’ or a ‘Thriller,” Charlamagne said in a clip caught by HotNewHipHop.

But several users on social media hit back against Charlamagne’s assessment.
“This argument is so dumb because not only is that just blatantly false, but what does it matter?” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Oh, now number lies cause it’s Drake and NICKI MINAJ, never said that another artist who just be getting everything handed to them,” a second user chimed in.
“Nobody said it had the cultural impact, though. He simply broke a record, and that’s it. Leave it at that. It’s not that deep,” a third user remarked.
At the time of writing, Drake has not responded to the comments made by Charlamagne.
