The tragic loss of DMX has haunted fans for years, wondering what the late great would be doing right now. In death, his legacy and legend has only grown, leading to unique accolades.
How Is DMX Being Honored?
On Wednesday (May 27th) during a public hearing, the decision came down, officially giving DMX a street in his hometown. According to the Yonkers Times, the street formally known as the corner of School Street and Brooke Street, is now Earl DMX Simmons Way.
The street is close to the Calcagno Homes municipal housing complex, where DMX grew up. Reportedly, he returned to Yonkers many times, at his highest and lowest.
This isn’t the first honor bestowed upon Simmons in death. Earlier this year, a Tarrytown church ordained him as a minister. The church, Foster Memorial A.M.E. Zion, led a ceremony that “honored his deep spiritual influence and lifelong connection to faith.”
DMX also recently made Complex’s Top 50 New York rappers list, coming in the top 20.
