Jay-Z’s performance at the Roots Picnic on Saturday (May 30) set the industry on fire and still has all of the top tastemakers buzzing about it. Including radio host Ebro Darden.
Ebro Claims Jay-Z Gave Drake a ‘Stimulus Package’
Jay-Z has been subject to a lot of criticism over the past several months. And he put all of those critics on the Summer Jam — I mean Roots Picnic screen in a freestyle on Saturday Night.
Among the people he addressed was Drake. After he appeared to take issue with the Roc Nation founder on his new album, Iceman. And while it’s Jay-Z’s name that’s currently hot in these streets, Ebro believes that the freestyle could also benefit Drake in the long run.
“The same way the Drake fans are callin’ it the Drake stimulus package, Hov just rolled out the Hov stimulus package,” Ebro explained in a clip caught by SeeWhyChelss on X. “The same way Drake was just talking about Hov, now Hov’s talking about Drake. So then people are gonna go back to the Drake album and re-visit those lines.”

according to Ebro, Hov responding to Drake instantly got everyone revisiting old lyrics, debating bars and putting Jay-Z back at the center of the conversation

However, many of the fans did not seem to agree with the former Hot 97 host’s sentiments.
“We seriously need a new wave in hip hop media. Phase these old heads out,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“That’s still the Drake stimulus package because it’s only happening when they talk about Drake love HOV though,” a second user chimed in.
“That is not a stimulus package. Hov dissing everyone rightfully helped nobody but himself. That can’t be a stimmy,” a third user remarked.
At the time of writing, Drake has not responded to Jay-Z.
