It’s been more than a week since Jay-Z set the Roots Picnic on fire with his performance at the Roots Picnic. And the internet is still buzzing about it.
Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic Concert Draws Historic Turnout
Not only was Hov’s performance at the Roots Picnic iconic, but it was also historic.
In a post caught by Big_Business on X, the festival brought in a whopping 80,000 attendees. Making it the largest turnout in the festival’s 18-year history.

Of course, people on social media had a lot to say about Hov’s historic turnout.
“And people really wanna compare streaming numbers to THIS. nah,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Jay-Z gave fans a treat during his set. As he blessed them with a new freestyle. And in that freestyle, he had a lot to get off his chest. As he called out several of his recent critics. Including Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, and Dame Dash. And while his remarks have sparked some controversy, they have appeared to restore the feeling around hip-hop as a whole.
Hov still has more performances lined up for this summer. He is set to perform three sold-out shows at New York’s Yankee Stadium in July. This has led fans to speculate that this could all be part of a rollout for a new album.
During a recent episode of the Joe Budden Podcast, co-host Marc Lamont Hill all but confirmed that a new Jay-Z album was on the way. After he spoke to a source who is “pretty close” to the rapper.
“I talked to somebody last night who’s pretty close to it… They couldn’t give me any more evidence than I asked for, but they said it seems pretty certain now,” Hill said on a recent podcast in a clip shared by HotNewHipHop.
Are you expecting any new music from Hov in 2026?
