How Did Oliver Tree Die?
Tree was riding in a helicopter over the neighborhood of Recreio dos Bandeirantes in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Reportedly his helicopter clipped another over Avenida das Américas, crashing into an electric vehicle yard and sparking a massive fire. Argentinian YouTuber Gaspi, Lucas Vignale, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac, were also killed in the crash. Authorities have confirmed all six fatalities and have begun investigating what caused the incident.
Tree rose to prominence in 2017 with his breakout song “When I’m Down,” which went viral on TikTok. He followed that with a string of viral singles including 2021’s “Life Goes On” and 2022’s “Miss You” remix with Robin Schulz. He was known for his humor, zaniness, deep lore, and eclectic blend of genre bending music.
Prior to his death, Tree electrified fans during his first ever world tour, bringing his songs to global audiences. Tree released his most recent album, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly, in April.
