Joey Badass is ready to dig deeper into his bag as a budding actor.
Joey Badass Campaigns For Role in ‘Creed’ Franchise
The rap artist recently did a one-on-one with Ty Cole for the With Love talk series on Patreon. And during his appearance, he expressed his interest in having a role in Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s Creed movie franchise.
“I would love to play in Creed. I’m open, you know what I’m saying?” he explained (via Hot97). “But, like, I definitely see myself playing a fighter.”
Joey Badass burst onto the scene as one of the top artists from the blog era. But lately, he has gained notoriety for his role as “Unique” in 50 Cent’s Raising Kanan. A no-nonsense drug dealer from Southside Queens who has a short temper. Unique has been praised by viewers as one of the best characters in the award-winning series. In a sit-down with Page Six back in 2021, Badass says that the role was seamless because he was able to relate the character to his personal experiences as a Brooklyn native.
“I’ve taken what I’ve seen in Brooklyn — with this being about the ’90s-era drug dealers,” the rapper explained. “Just seeing the guys of those times, I actually knew some of those guys… so it’s easy to pull inspiration from. Just having prior conversations — all these people sharing experiences with me, and my own experiences.”
As for the Creed franchise, Michael B. Jordan has confirmed that a fourth installment is in the works. It will be interesting to see if Badass can score a role in the franchise.
