Ja Rule isn’t afraid to reveal key details about his time as a rap star. One of such came when he spilled the beans on a proposed world tour with Diddy and JAY-Z that never happened, and it was his fault.
What Did Ja Rule Say?
On the ChangeTheGame podcast, Ja Rule revealed that the tour came close to happening, but egos got in the way.
“We all arguing because I’m the hottest n**** at the time [between the 3]. Puff was the coldest at the time, so he said he don’t give a f***, ‘I’ll go on first, imma show you n***** what I do.’ So it was me and JAY going back and forth on whose gonna close. Rightfully so, HOV should have closed. But, you know, I’m the hottest n**** at that time, so I’m like, ‘I’m gonna close, HOV.’ But it didn’t wind up happening because the arguments got so intense that JAY decided he didn’t want to do it with us. Then, he went on tour with Talib Kweli and the backpack group.
That tour ended up becoming the Sprite Liquid Mix Tour, which housed Talib, 3/11, NERD, Nappy Roots, Hoobastank, and more.
And, Ja Rule is right, in early 2002, he was the hottest of the three acts. As the tour was discussed prior to his less successful album, The Last Temptation. At the time, he was coming off his role in The Fast & Furious, along with his Grammy-winning album, Pain Is Love. The album featured several hit singles such as “Down Ass B****”, “I’m Real”, “Livin It Up”, “Always On Time”, and several others. He had also recently won GQ’s musician of the year award.

Ja Rule revealed that a planned tour with Diddy and Jay-Z never came together because he and Hov couldn’t agree on who should close the show.
Speaking about the it, Ja explained that the biggest issue was the headlining order:

However, fans are most interested in the prospects of a new album, which would be his first since 2017’s 4:44. His close confidant Pharrell put people on notice.

Immediately, people assume HOV may go right at Drake after Drizzy dissed him a couple times on his latest album Iceman.
