Hyphy stalwart Mistah F.A.B. was arrested in his home base of Oakland for an illegal fireworks incident at a community party. A July 4th Instagram post led to law enforcement investigating F.A.B.
Why Was Mistah F.A.B. Arrested?
The Bay Area Rapper posted on Instagram July 4th with many different fireworks. Apparently, authorities saw that post, and decided to investigate F.A.B. They got a few warrants to search places connected to him, discovering two firearms and a ton of illegal fireworks.
F.A.B. is known as a major player in the community. He regularly hosts toy drives, cookouts, charity events, and other community drives to help the city of Oakland.
When asked for comment on the investigation, the mayor, Barbara Lee declined to speak on the matter. Lee has praised F.A.B. in the past for his focus on uplifting the community.

The Rapper Breaks His Silence
In a lengthy social media video, F.A.B. addressed the situation.
“If I am guilty of anything it is observing my community being a neighborhood hero continuing to put community first and creating safe environment for the children and for the community to come together,” he said. “There were some penal codes that may have been broken…I want to send a big shout out to the law enforcement that handled things so professionally. They didn’t demonize me or use excessive force.”
He also reflected on his incarceration, saying it helped him reflect.
“For the first time in my adulthood… I got a chance to sit in stillness,” he said. “And I heard what I was supposed to do. I heard my mission…When you put yourself out there as a positive light and a positive image you’ll be challenged. Will you still keep that positive attitude? I’m gonna stay optimistic no matter what.”
Mistah F.A.B.’s case is pending and it’s unknown if prosecutors will pursue charges against him.
