Don Toliver threw a Houston homecoming show to celebrate his incredible year ascending to one of the most successful acts in Hip Hop. However, the good times were cut short and according to AllHipHop, it was due to a major safety issue.
The Houston rapper was 90 minutes through his Octane Tour set when he exited the stage after performing “Kryptonite” and “Too Many Nights.” Fan initially thought it was a simple break, but as time passed they began to wonder what’s going on.
As time passed, a voice from the speakers told the crowd to “sit the f*** down.”
Then, the lights came up and a message flashed through the arena.
“Sorry for the inconvenience. The show is over. Please go the nearest exit. Exit safely. Thank you, and have a good night.”
At first, fans didn’t know what was going on, but reportedly, a man smuggled a gun through the metal detectors before being caught and arrested. Joshua Biosah is charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in a public place, namely inside the Toyota Center, and the handgun was not carried in a holster.
The incident occurred at the same event where Bun B and Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard bestowed Toliver with his own day in Houston, proclaiming that August 11th in Houston was now Don Toliver day.
It appears no one was hurt during the scare and while fans got upset initially, considering the circumstances, the venue and Toliver’s team were justified in their actions. Especially considering the consequences of when an artist’s venue team is negligent, such as the tragedy of Astrofest.

Don Toliver Lights Up Rolling Loud
Part of Toliver’s huge year stems from Rolling Loud, where he served as a headliner at night one.
Toliver performed his song “Rendezvous” and brought out a certain special guest that surprised many fans. Yeat popped out on the stage and sung along with Toliver, before jumping into one of his own songs. The California rapper transitioned into “Come And Go.”
Originally, speculation ran rampant if Don Toliver would make it to the show. A video surfaced where he allegedly was detained by police for speeding. While no official statement went out, fans connected Toliver’s rental car, to the same vehicle shown in the video. The official Rolling Loud X account also joked that they were “on the way with the bail money.”
Toliver also seemed to poke fun at the incident when he began his set with “E85,” a song that references being “on the highway,” and “high octane.”
