Former Pink Pony Dancer Files Lawsuit Alleging Workers Paid Hundreds in Fees to Perform

Videos by According2HipHop

A former dancer at Atlanta-area gentlemen’s club Pink Pony has filed a federal collective-action lawsuit alleging dancers were required to pay hundreds of dollars in fees just to work while receiving no wages from the club.

According to the complaint, former dancer Heather West claims performers at the Brookhaven club were required to pay nightly “house fees” ranging from $60 to as much as $532 per shift, depending on how much they earned. The lawsuit alleges the arrangement could leave dancers taking home less than minimum wage — or, in some cases, nothing at all.

One example included in the complaint allegedly shows that a dancer earning only $60 during a shift would be required to turn over the entire $60 to the club.

West filed the lawsuit against Trop, Inc., which operates Pink Pony, along with CEO Michael Kap, CFO Dennis Williams and night manager Eddie Stone. The suit seeks to represent current and former dancers who worked at the club during the past three years.

The complaint alleges that dancers “were not paid wages for any work time on the premises” and argues that the club’s fee structure violated federal wage laws. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
