Details have emerged about the Keke Wyatt arrest.
Previously, her team pushed back on reports about her recent arrest in Henry County, Georgia. In a statement, her team said court documents list one charge of simple assault and denied that Wyatt was charged with cruelty to children, terroristic threats and acts, or aggravated assault.
Now, according to separate reports from Complex and TMZ, the picture to what happened with Wyatt is much more clear.
A witness reportedly told police that the R&B singer pulled out a handgun during a September 20th custody exchange and threatened to shoot a woman, which she denied when questioned by police.
According to the affidavit obtained by TMZ, Wyatt was present when an argument broke out between two other people involved in the exchange. A witness alleged that Wyatt produced a black 9mm Beretta and extended it through a car window before saying, “Let that b**** come over here, so I can blow her brains out.” Wyatt didn’t deny possessing the gun, but says she didn’t threaten anyone.
Children were reportedly in the area when the confrontation allegedly broke out, though, the affidavit states their presence is not connected to the charges, which allegedly include terroristic threats and child cruelty, along with simple assault.
She was released after posting $1,050 bond. Her team says she intends to address the matter through the legal process and continue with her scheduled performances.
Wyatt has been a longtime fixture in R&B, first breaking on the scene in 2001 with her rendition of “Nothing in This World” which was nominated for Best New R&B/Soul/Rap Artist award at the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards.
She’s had numerous albums chart on Billboard as well including Soul Sista, Who Knew?, Unbelievable, Rated Love.
