Back in the late 80s, before the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air changed entertainment history, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff were two kids trying to make a cleaner and pop style of Hip Hop that years later would become “pop rap.”

Now, the story of that journey is getting told in a new scripted series.
Smith’s company, Westbrook Studios, is launching a new slate of film and television projects in partnership with Malar Group. 215, which will detail Smith and Jeff’s rise, is the first project on tap.
According to a press release, “the series will follow a quick-witted teenage rapper, the DJ who is his musical other half, and the friends who helped fuel the dream. Together they chase a record deal, money and a way out as Philadelphia’s hip-hop scene takes off. Along the way they deal with label meetings, hometown loyalty, sudden fame and the friendships that hold them together, or almost don’t.”
This comes after Bel-Air, a modern reimagining of Smith’s flagship series, crushed ratings and became an overnight sensation, running for four seasons.
It is unknown when the series will debut, but it seems like it’ll come in 2027.
