The numbers are in and just as just about anyone would have predicted Cardi B’s “Invasion Of Privacy” is the number 1 album in the country. From countless television promotion and even a co-sign by Oprah Winfrey the product is number 1.
Invasion Of Privacy moved 255,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 12th, reports Billboard. The only album with a bigger week in 2018 is Justin Timberlake’s Man of the Woods with 293,000 equivalent album sales.
103,000 of those sales were in traditional album sales. That marks the biggest sales week for an R&B or hip-hop album to date this year.
Cardi B becomes only the fifth female rapper to peak at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the others being Nicki Minaj, Eve, Foxy Brown and Lauryn Hill.
Invasion Of Privacy also had the seventh largest streaming week ever. The album already broke Apple Music’s record for the most streamed album in a week by a female artist with 100 million streams on Apple Music alone.
Congrats.
