CeeLo Green took to social to congratulate Big Boi on reppin the city of Atlanta on stage at the Super Bowl. While CeeLo celebrated his fellow Dungeon Family he also called out some of the phoniness in the NFL protest in an IG post that he has deleted from his account saying:
“Yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT SHIT! Fuck these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I’ll kill for you,”.

Naturally, those who were in support of the boycott didn’t take too kindly to CeeLo’s words, highlighting the fact that the protest is designed to underscore Kaepernick’s stand against racial discrimination.
Activist Tamika Mallory responded by saying; “Really @ceelogreen — fuck us huh! Just want to make sure you all see how some of the artists we love REALLY feel about mothers and fathers who have lost their children and people on the front line. Also, someone call TVOne and ask them what there is to “like” about this post. I’ve been outside a jail for two days in the cold trying to help detainees get food, hot water and lights… I’m on some other shit today. Y’all don’t want it with me!@theshaderoom @thenorthstar2019”
Ceelo has since apologized saying; “I’d like to address what has become a large misunderstanding and I hope that you will receive this post as clarity, closure, and, most important, an apology. I posted yesterday, excited in the heat of the moment and spirit of triumph in support of my fellow Atlantan, teammate and brother @bigboi. My post was speaking exclusively to him and about those who were opposed to him performing. I would NEVER disrespect or devalue the stance or the severity of why it has been a call to arms as far as our living situation here in America. I am well aware, I fully support, and I stand with all of my extended family around the world. Once again, I sincerely apologize to those I have offended and hope this helps clarify my intentions. CeeLo Green”
