Lil Jon was detained at a Vietnam airport while on tour. A source explained that Lil Jon had performed at Envy Nightclub in Saigon without incident, but that when he and his entourage headed to the airport on Nov. 16, Lil Jon was told that he should have declared all the jewelry with him.
According to TMZ, Jon had over $400,000 in jewels on him.
Quick-thinking Jon had his reps call the US Embassy, and two staffers came to his aid.
We hear that local authorities initially said Jon could leave, but his jewelry would have to stay behind to be professionally appraised. Ultimately they decided to let him go with no fine.
Skam Artist CEO Sujit Kundu, who was with Lil Jon told us of the ordeal: “Everyone was very polite … despite the detainment situation. It was definitely a stressful day … but after hours at the airport we finally were able to leave and he was released and we landed in Hong Kong at 11 p.m., arrived in Macao around 12:30 a.m., and Jon was on stage, and on time, at 2 a.m. How about that! He performed to a sold-out club … and then we headed back to LA. Talk about a whirlwind.”
