A$AP Rocky has been no stranger to legal trouble over the past several months. And the rap star has recently found himself in even more hot water.
A$AP Rocky in More Legal Trouble
The rap star’s downstairs neighbor is suing him. According to a November 5 article from The Independent, flooding from the Fashion Killa creator’s $11 million New York City condo has caused “catastrophic” damage to the downstairs unit. And the severity of the damages has made the unit “uninhabitable.”
The lawsuit, filed in New York City on October 30, alleges that Rocky’s negligence in the matter has made him liable for the damages to his neighbor’s unit.
“Several hot water pipes in and around Unit 5N… burst. Causing a deluge of water to cascade from Unit 5N into and around Unit 4NF below. As well as to several other units,” the filing reads.
The catalyst for the damage? Rocky had apparently hired a contractor (ADE Pro Painting) to do some work in the unit. Amid the job, one of the contractors allegedly opened all the windows “to exhaust fumes created from the work performed.”
The worker forgot to close the windows when they left. And the temperature at the time was “below freezing.”
A third-party contractor later discovered that the closure of the supply valves was the catalyst for the water in the radiators freezing. This ultimately led to cracks in the pipes.
“Once thawed, not only did the existing water then proceed to gush from cracks in the pipes, but also because no return valves had been installed, the water continued to flow unabated, causing massive flooding,” the filing adds.
“The closure of the supply valves and failure to install return valves created an objectively hazardous situation. Specifically, because the supply valves were closed, water could not circulate through the mechanical heating piping, and the existing water remained trapped inside the fin tube radiators.”
