A$AP Rocky previewed some unreleased music during his headlining Rolling Loud California set on Saturday night (March 15). The rapper chose his set to debut a new song that briefly covers hip-hop’s biggest feud in some time.
While perched on the edge of an actual helicopter, the Harlem rapper performed a previously unheard song and made it clear where he stands on the battle between Hip Hop’s “Big Three.”
“I ain’t on J. Cole, I ain’t on Drake, I ain’t on Kendrick side/ I choose homicide, they gonna see a different side,” Rocky rapped during his set.
The Harlem creative also seemed to reference ASAP Relli in this new song preview, who unsuccessfully accused him in criminal court of shooting at him back in 2021. Rocky saw an acquittal in the case earlier this year.
“N****s do the most when they irrelevant / Claiming A$AP, but we were never friends,” he raps on the cut, also talking about settlements and evidence in the following bars.
Rocky’s set was full of surprises, including performances by Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Quavo.
After hopping out of a helicopter to open his Rolling Loud set, Rocky treated the festival-goers to a few new songs that will potentially appear on his forthcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb.
In February, A$AP shared an update on his upcoming fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, during a conversation with GQ. An official release date for the album has not yet been announced.
“I’m in the mixing and mastering realm of it,” he told the magazine. “But I think quite frankly, people are tired of hearing about updates about the album. They’re just ready to get this s—, you know what I’m saying? I don’t think anybody wants to hear where I’m at with it, how far is it along and all that. They just want to hear some s— just to see where I’m at, and I promise I got some new s— in store. I’m challenging myself. It’s like anything, I approach it with a different tactic, degree, or finesse.”
