A$AP Rocky is amid the rollout of his fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. And as part of the rollout of his new project, he sat down with hip-hop personality, DJ Akademiks. One of the topics that came up was his thoughts on controversial artist Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
A$AP Rocky Gets Honest About Kanye West
Over the past several months, Ye has made several controversial statements. And because of that, many of his once-close cohorts, such as Jay-Z and Beyonce, have estranged themselves from him. However, Rocky feels like, despite the things that Ye has recently said, it shouldn’t take away from his work as an artist.
“Ye is one of the most influential dudes to do this sh*t*,” Rocky said to Akademiks (as heard through Kurrrco/X). “I don’t agree with a lot of sh*t… but I don’t think it takes away from what he did when I was a kid and how he influenced me and all of that. I think he did an amazing job.”

Many fans in the comments section of the social media post seemed to agree with the rap star.
“Exactly, acknowledging the legacy without swallowing the drama,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Rocky said what a lot of fake angry people want to say but are scared to,” another user chimed in.’
Rocky is not the only artist to come out in support of Kanye. Recently, actress Teyana Taylor echoed a similar sentiment about the Yeezy creator.
The Harlem Native was previously signed to Ye’s G.O.O.D. music label along with Big Sean and 2 Chainz. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Taylor was asked about her current relationship with the Grammy winner. And while some of the things that West has previously said don’t necessarily align with her beliefs, she still refuses to abandon him.
“I don’t have to agree with everything that he does or says,” Taylor said of West. “But I’m not going to abandon him and be like, ‘Yeah, eff that mo********er.’ My brothers do things I don’t agree with…. I don’t engage in that.”
While there are many people who have dismissed Ye, he appears to still have some significant supporters.
