A$AP Rocky continues to blur the line between music, fashion, and film with the release of his new music video for “WHISKEY / BLACK DEMARCO,” a standout visual from his latest album Don’t Be Dumb.
The video features legendary filmmaker Tim Burton, who appears on screen and quite literally brings his imagination to life. In the surreal clip, Burton unleashes illustrated alter-ego characters from his sketchbook into the streets of New York City, triggering animated mayhem reminiscent of The Nightmare Before Christmas–style chaos.
Directed by Rocky alongside his creative collective AWGE, the video showcases six A$AP Rocky alter-egos, including GR1M and MR. MAYERS, all designed in Burton’s signature gothic, off-kilter style. The result is a darkly playful blend of animation and live action, filled with eerie humor and visual storytelling that feels more like a short film than a traditional rap video.
As reported by Hypebeast and Rolling Stone, the collaboration highlights Rocky’s continued evolution as a boundary-pushing artist, while giving Burton a rare foray into contemporary hip-hop visuals. Together, they deliver a striking, cinematic moment that reinforces Don’t Be Dumb as not just an album—but a fully realized artistic universe.
With “WHISKEY / BLACK DEMARCO,” A$AP Rocky once again proves that when it comes to creativity, there are no rules—only imagination.
