Tensions are beginning to rise as the jury nears deliberations in the A$AP Rocky shooting trial. But nobody expected what went down in the courtroom on February 14.

During closing statements on Friday, the rapper’s lawyer Joe Tacopina, and California state prosecutor Joe Lewin were engaged in a heated back and forth which took place in the courtroom.

A$AP Rocky Lawyer, State Prosecutor Get in Heated Argument
The catalyst of the heated argument was when the rapper’s attorney accused the prosecution of being unethical.
“This guy is who is of the ninth circuit just told a lie to the jury in the Brantford case,” Tacopina said during his closing argument.
Lewin was quick to lash back at Rocky’s representation. Insinuating that the defense team had been unethical throughout much of the trial.
“Your honor, one more thing can he air everything that has happened in this case? Which the courts are aware of? He might want to stop,” Lewin hit back.
Tacopina then sarcastically replied “I’m so pleased,”
to which Lewin responded, “You should be Joe.”
The judge presiding over the case called for a short recess but the two continued to verbally squabble even after the camera was no longer focused on them with the judge having to verbally interject.
A$AP Rocky is currently in a relationship with music star turned makeup queen, Rihanna. They also share two children. Rihanna and Rocky’s children had been no-shows during much of the trial.
But as the case neared deliberations she became a regular and even brought their two kids to court on the day of closing arguments. Lewin was quick to remind the jury that Rihanna nor she and Rocky’s kids could play any part in their impending decision.
“They brought in two adorable children yesterday for a closing argument. They haven’t been here any other time. And you have to ask yourselves, why children that age would be here in a situation like this?” Lewin said. “You are not allowed to consider how this might affect Rihanna and his kids. We are all responsible for our own actions in the world.”
