Ab-Soul hasn’t made many headlines lately. That changed on Monday afternoon when he posted a series of cryptic criticisms at an unknown person. Turns out, it looks like it’s a self-critical reflection.
What Did Ab-Soul Say?
In several all caps posts, Ab-Soul addressed a person named Herbert, which is Soul’s birth name.
“YOU COULD’VE ENDED ME MANY TIMES. WELP? TIMES UP HERBERT ANTHONY. YOU BLEW IT BROTHER. WHAT YOU THOUGHT U WALK ON WATER OR SUMTHIN? BLASPHEMY. AREN’T U A FATHER???,” Ab-Soul posted. “AFTER ALL THAT LOVE N ENCOURAGEMENT? YOU COULDN’T EVEN HELP OUT HERB? JUST PICC N CHOOSE WHAT N WHEN U WANT TO DO THINGS? LIFE DON’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU BRO. YOU KNOW HOW THEY DESCRIBE US N*****! MY FAULT! I MEANT BLACK MEN! DIDN’T YOU SAY ‘DO BETTER’? CMON HERB!
Ab-Soul’s legal name is Hebert Anthony Stevens IV. He then began berating himself further, this time for crashing out on social media.

It’s unclear why Soul said these things about himself, but it’s no secret his career trajectory hasn’t lived up to expectations. Critically acclaimed albums such as Control System, Do What Thou Wilt, and Longterm Mentality drew him Millions of fans. After several hiatuses, his recent work, 2022’s introspective Herbert, and the groovy 2024’s Soul Burger got him back on the radar. Now, two years later, it appears he’s going through something heavy.

What Else Has He Been Up To?
He was recently spotted on the set of Rapsody’s new music “God Gotta Afro.” Soulo also released a collab track with YG and JID titled “Insecure.”
Since the X tirade, Soul has not responded. However, some fans are speculating why he got so hostile.
“N*** rollin out his album by screaming at himself on twitter,” one user posted.
“Whatever is going on, give yourself some grace. S*** happens, and none of us are perfect. You LIVE and you learn! Dust yourself off, king, and keep going! All love to you always,” another user posted.
“Who ever he’s talking too I wouldn’t work with that lot anyway bunch of f******* Crowley’s,” another user posted.
Some people are speculating he’s talking to TDE Punch, but there’s no evidence to those claims.
