A recent link-up between Atlanta rap stars Lil Baby and Young Thug has led to some interesting remarks from media personality, DJ Akademiks.
In a recent video, Young Thug shows himself riding around in a drop-top convertible together. This made many fans speculate that the two rap artists could have new music on the way. Nothing has been confirmed. However, Akdemiks says even if the two do have a collaboration on the way, he isn’t confident that the song will have much success. Many of the tracks from the artists have failed to have any real traction over the past several months.
Akademiks Claims Lil Baby & Young Thug Need Gunna
“Am I expecting some heat from these two? I’mma be honest with y’all, no. I know some of y’all think I’m just gonna be hating. No, I’m gonna call a spade a spade,” he explained, as seen in a clip shared by Akademiks TV. “This is two ice cubes linking up together, man. They might as well be in the freezer together. That’s a fact.”
He also added that if they really want to churn out another hit record, they need to reconnect with Gunna.
“They better be driving to Gunna‘s crib,” Ak continued. “They better put in the GPS, ‘Gunna Wunna’s crib.’ Straight up. […] This is damn near the ice bucket challenge. Y’all might as well just go to Gunna’s crib. Gunna got the sauce, I’m sorry.”

Young Thug’s issues with Gunna stem from the YSL trial. Gunna was swept up in the initial indictment but was released after he entered an Alford Plea. This is a guilty plea entered by a defendant who maintains their innocence, but admits there is enough evidence for a jury to likely convict them. But even though Gunna’s plea was never used in the trial, Thugger has still maintained that he snitched.
As for Lil Baby, despite making several hits with Gunna, has appeared to side with Thug in their ongoing beef. Appearing to call out Gunna for snitching on various occasions, such as his song ‘Otha Boy, ” which dropped in 2025.
Do you think it’s finally time for the Atlanta artists to put their beef to rest?
