Media personality DJ Akademiks has made a revelation about the moments leading up to the death of standout music producer Tay Keith. And it involved Drake.
Akademiks: Drake Missed Tay Keith’s Call Minutes Before Passing
During a recent stream, Akademiks detailed a conversation that he and Drake had following the producer’s passing. Akademiks revealed that Drake said that Tay Keith had called him minutes before he passed away.
“Drake hit me up, I think it was the night—he was f*cked up,”
Akademiks said as caught by ClippedSzn on X. “I don’t like bringing up everything we talk about, but he was f*cked up over the passing of Tay Keith. I and I had a long convo. It’s kinda interesting, I think he was feeling a little guilty. He said Tay Keith had hit him up about 45 minutes before.”

Tay Keith and Drake were a popular duo amongst rap fans. The two of them collaborated on several smash hits, including Jimmy Cooks, First Person Shooter, and Family Matters.
Following his passing, Tay Keith’s family released a statement. And said that even though he is no longer here on Earth, they take comfort in knowing his legacy will live on. He has created several records that will continue to be played for years.
“We take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the music he created, the opportunities he provided, and the lives he touched,” the statement reads.
Tay Keith was found unresponsive in his apartment in Memphis, Tennessee, on June 18. He was pronounced dead after police were called to do a welfare check on him. He was just 29 years old. The police say they have not suspected that foul play was involved in his death. As of now, the producer’s cause of death has not been revealed.
