Bobby Ray Simmons, better known as Rap Star B.O.B., gained notoriety during the late 2000s blog era. Smash hits such as “Nothin’ on You” “Airplanes” and his 2010 debut album “The Adventures of Bobby Ray”, catapulted him to superstar status. However, the one-time sensation has found himself in hot water.
B.O.B. Accused of Assault in Explosive Complaint
According to a November 10 report from CBS 8, Simmons has been accused of sexual assault. An anonymous woman from Texas has brought a complaint against the musician. Alleging that she was assaulted by B.O.B. after one of his shows in San Diego this past April.
Jane Doe says that after the singer’s performance, he invited her back to a hotel, which she viewed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. Especially because she had recently gotten the news that she was cancer-free. So she and her cousin went to his hotel.
“[Jane] viewed the unexpected invitation as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hang out with one of the biggest stars in Hip Hop, whose music played a major role in keeping her emotionally healthy to continue her arduous struggle against cancer,” the lawsuit reads.
“[She] couldn’t believe how her life had turned around since the cancer-free diagnosis. Moreover, she figured everything would be okay with her cousin by her side; after all, Mr. Simmons’ wife would be there also.”
At some point, Jane’s cousin went to retrieve her jacket from their car. And that is when she claims that B.O.B. made his move on her. As he began to kiss her and grab her neck. An act, the lawsuit says, left her feeling “shocked.”
“[Jane] was shocked as she didn’t think this could happen and didn’t know what to do,” the complaint adds. “This was coming from the man whose music helped her through her most desperate time; the Hip Hop artist whom she traveled from Texas to see; and now she is being sexually assaulted by the very same man.”
B.O.B. has yet to respond to the allegations.
