Fresh off the release of his lates album Casino, Baby Keem sat down for an interview with the New York Times. And had some interesting things to say about Kendrick Lamar.
Baby Keem Declares Kendrick Lamar The GOAT
If you don’t know, Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem are cousins. Literally, they grew up together. Keem told the outlet that being around Kendrick during the early stages of his career gave him more confidence as an artist. He also refers to Kendrick as the “greatest artist of all time.”
“Knowing that the greatest artist of all time, in my opinion, is a fan of my work and what I can do — all cousins aside, all everything aside — that gives me the most confidence in the world,” he said as caught by Kurrco on X.
Of course, Keem’s comments sparked a huge debate in the comments section of the social media post.
“Kendrick ain’t the goat though, top 5-10 though,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Dot is behind Ye and Drake. He hasn’t been able to change that in over 15 years,” a second user chimed in.
“There’s no validation quite like having the GOAT vouch for your pen. You love to see it,” a third user remarked.
Lamar was featured on the documentary for Keem’s Casino album.
One of the things that he talked about was Keem’s success and his growth as an artist. And the rapper said that he could see the potential in Keem from the moment he became interested in music. Specifically making beats.
“It started with beats,” Lamar said. “And I was like, ‘Okay, I see what went down here.’ When I think of the gamers, it just makes sense. You have to be locked in to sound and tech; it all goes hand in hand. So when he started first sending me beats and sh*t, I was like, ‘Okay, I can see you do this,’ and he was really good.”
