The simmering beef between Benny the Butcher and Freddie Gibbs just got reheated—again.
Nearly four months after Gibbs aired out his grievances on wax, Benny has finally fired back on his latest track, “Position of Power”, taking a direct shot at his former collaborator and reviving one of rap’s most persistent grudges.
“Rumors back home that we took some jewels / Some shit that don’t even cost a ‘B’ on my chain. Benny the Butcher the reason these rappers can’t eat in this lane,” he raps, referencing the now-infamous 2022 incident in Buffalo where Gibbs was jumped and allegedly had his chain snatched.
It’s a pointed return serve in a feud that’s been fueled by both music and messy headlines. Freddie didn’t hold back in his earlier diss, dragging up everything from Benny’s 2020 shooting at a Houston Walmart to an asthma-related hospitalization that caused Benny to cancel a Detroit show. In one of the track’s most vicious bars, Gibbs rapped:
“N***a you was born an addict, pussy n***a asthmatic / Don’t fuck with The Rabbit, the day you die, bitch, I’ma hashtag it / Nigga pissed on himself when he got shot.”
But Gibbs didn’t stop there—he also accused Benny of cozying up with his former girlfriend and child’s mother, Destiny Santoya, better known in adult entertainment circles as **Destiny Creams**.
While Benny had remained silent in the months since, “Position of Power” marks a strategic and lyrical retaliation—less reactive, more calculated. And although it doesn’t name Gibbs directly, fans of both artists had no trouble catching the subliminals.
The two were once allies in the underground rap renaissance, trading bars and linking up on tracks like “One Way Flight.” But things have spiraled since 2022, when their tension first spilled into the public. From social media jabs to backstage brawls, their cold war has had plenty of boiling points.
No word yet on whether Gibbs will respond again, but in a beef that’s already stretched across multiple years, another chapter might be inevitable.
