Big Boi revealed that he’s back in the studio working on new music in a post on Instagram. The Atlanta Native confirmed that his first solo studio in eight years is coming along rather smoothly thanks in part to longtime friend Killer Mike.

“Live from Stankonia… with my playa Patna Killer Mike,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “New Big Boi ALBUM on da way.”
Specifics about the album, including a potential release date or featured collaborations, were not disclosed in the clip. Nor was Killer Mike’s role in the project made clear. For fans of the Atlanta native, the news is still pretty exciting.
Of course, this will follow up on Big Boi’s partner in rhyme’s last album, New Blue Sun. While fans of the duo shouldn’t hold their breath on another OutKast album, a reunion could be written in the stars courtesy of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Big Boi & Andre 3000 Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Back in February, the museum’s committee announced the duo as one of 14 nominees to be considered for the 2025 induction ceremony. 3 Stacks and Big Boi are the only rappers among the nominees this year, including Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, The White Stripes and influential British bands such as Oasis, Joy Division and New Order. With enough votes, the duo could become one of just 15 Hip Hop acts bestowed with the honor.
Even with such exciting news, OutKast responded with that classic laid-back southern energy, writing on Instagram, “‘Preciate it – – Big & 3.”
The inductees will be announced in April before a televised ceremony airs later in the year.
Voting is now open on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s official website. Fans can vote for up to seven artists once per day until April 21.
