Big Daddy Kane Launches Interactive Platform
The rap icon has partnered with VIVERSE, one of the leading spatial computing platforms, to create an interactive environment that takes place in the 1980s.
Users will be able to enter the space in avatar form. And will be able to interact with other users on the platform through “speech, dance, and social engagement.”
When speaking about his latest project, Big Daddy Kane said that the inspiration behind the platform was to take fans back to his roots. But he also notes that the purpose of the platform is bigger than nostalgia. And more about “preserving the essence” of the era in which the platform is based.
“I wanted to bring fans back to my roots—Brooklyn in the ’80s, where it all began for me,” the rap icon said in a statement (via Business Wire). “But this isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about preserving the essence of that era while showing what’s possible when hip-hop’s pioneers embrace innovation. The experience had to capture that unmistakable feeling that you only get from Big Daddy Kane’s world. Step in and explore it like never before.”
Big Daddy Kane’s Immersive World will feature three locations:
The Theater, where users can access exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary footage of the rap star.
King’s Record, which is a location that pays homage to the importance of record stores in the 80s. At the King’s Record, fans can also interactively listen to Big Daddy Kane’s Music.
The Hall of Fame, which will serve as a gallery that features iconic outfits, props, and “rare memorabilia.”
