Boosie Says R. Kelly Would ‘Smoke’ Michael Jackson in Verzuz
In a social media post over the weekend, the Louisiana rapper said that he believes that R&B legend R. Kelly would “smoke” the King of Pop in a hypothetical Verzuz matchup.
“I wish Michael Jackson weren’t dead, and I wish R. Kelly were free. So they could do a Verzuz,” he said in a clip shared by MyMixtapez on X. “Because R. Kelly would smoke Michael Jackson. A lot of ya’ll might get in ya’ll feelings, but R. Kelly would smoke Michael’s ass. It wouldn’t even be close.”
Boosie goes on to clarify that his comments are not based on stage performances. But rather song for song. And he simply doesn’t think that Michael Jackson’s catalog stacks up well against the Pied Piper.
“I ain’t talking about stage performances. Because nobody f******g with Michael on That. But a Verzuz, song for song? Man, R. Kelly is gonna smoke Michael Jackson’s a**. I’m telling you it wouldn’t even be close. JV versus varsity,” he continued.
He then posed a question to the viewers, asking them how many Michael Jackson songs they knew, versus how many R. Kelly songs they knew. Then concludes by saying “case closed. Checkmate.”
Of course, with an opinion that controversial, fans on social media had a lot of reactions to Boosie’s comments.
“He’s drunk. Michael has way more heavy hitters than R Kelly. R Kelly has quantity, but Michael Jackson songs were celebrated by Aliens,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Mike’s discography alone would have R. Kelly asking for a timeout by track 5,” a second user chimed in.
“That comparison doesn’t even make sense… both are legendary in completely different lanes. No need to pit icons against each other like that,” a third person remarked.
