Boosie Badazz is bracing for what comes next in his long-running federal gun case.
The Baton Rouge legend appeared in a San Diego federal courtroom on Tuesday (Aug. 26), where a judge scheduled his sentencing for November 21. Prosecutors want him to serve 24 months, though the judge could technically hit him with anything up to 15 years.
For Boosie, it’s less about the number and more about finally putting this saga behind him. “I’m ready to get it over with, get it behind me, get on with my life,” he told CBS 8 after the hearing. “A lot of things this case has stopped me from doing, traveling all across the world, I just wanna get it over with. Accept my guilty plea, ready to get it over with.”
The whole thing traces back to May 2023, when San Diego police spotted him in a social media clip with a pistol tucked in his waistband. A helicopter later tailed his car, cops pulled him over, and two firearms were found inside. He was arrested hours after performing downtown and shooting a video in the Gaslamp Quarter.
At first, the Louisiana rapper was supposed to plead guilty in state court and walk away with probation. But when that case got tossed, the feds swooped in. A federal judge even dismissed the charges last year, pointing to a ruling that relaxed gun laws for nonviolent drug offenders — only for a higher court to bring them back. It’s been legal whiplash ever since.
Boosie himself took to X (formerly Twitter) earlier this month to let his followers know where his head’s at. “JUST ACCEPTED A PLEA FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON MY GUN CASE,” he posted. “I THOUGHT THIS CASE WAS OVER N I WAS GOING TO GET ON WITH MY LIFE BUT ‘GOD DONT MAKE MISTAKES’ N IM TIRED OF FIGHTING.” He added that he spoke with his family before making the decision: “TO ALL MY FANS ACROSS THE WORLD SAY A PRAYER FOR YA BOY N GO GET THE NEW ALBUM #wordsofarealone.”
At the top of the year, Boosie Badazz took to social media to ask President Donald Trump for a pardon.
