The footage does line up with a Monday (June 1) report from TMZ. That noted, the Louisiana Native is facing a felony aggravated assault charge. For allegedly assaulting a nightclub bouncer. The report alleged that the rap star smashed a glass hookah base over his head in an incident at Dome Nightclub in Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, the alleged victim was a bouncer named Edward Iglehart. Iglehart claimed the incident occurred during the time he was shutting down the club. He was approached by a woman who wanted to use the bathroom. And she got upset when he refused. And told her to exit the club. The bouncer says that the woman (believed to be Boosie’s niece) elbowed him in the face.
Amid the Melee, Iglehart says he knelt down to pick up the woman’s phone and keys that she dropped. And while he was on the ground, essentially defenseless, he felt an “object strike the top of his head,” and began bleeding shortly after. Iglehart says that when he looked up, he saw Boosie holding a broken glass hookah base. Leading him to believe that he smashed the object over his head. He had to get eight staples put in his head as a result.
Rap Star’s Lawyer Claims Boosie Was Defending ‘Relative’
However, Boosie’s lawyer, Carl A. Moore, claims that the situation was a case of self-defense.
“Mr. Hatch was trying to defend his female relative, who was being escorted out of the club by the security guard,” Moore said in a statement to the outlet. “He was trying to de-escalate the situation. We’re trying to obtain any surveillance from the club that will show what exactly happened.”
