Brooklyn rapper Sinthoro Upper’s career was finally gaining some traction only for his life to be cut short in a tragic family dispute.
Authorities say the rising artist was fatally shot inside his Fort Greene apartment after confronting his 16-year-old stepson during an argument over smoking weed in the home. The teen was arrested in the Bronx nine days later after allegedly fleeing the scene.
Police say the situation escalated after Sinthoro’s girlfriend, who is reportedly three months pregnant, asked her son not to smoke in the apartment. When the teen allegedly became disrespectful, Sinthoro stepped in, and the confrontation turned physical.
Investigators say the teen then went to his bedroom, grabbed a gun from a shoebox, and shot the rapper twice.
Sinthoro had just started gaining traction in music. The rapper’s song Slidin recently went viral after 50 Cent used it in an Instagram reel.
