It finally happened. After seasons of speculation, the Milwaukee Bucks finally traded their All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Giannis Traded to Bucks in Blockbuster Deal
According to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania, the 2021 NBA Finals MVP, along with Bucks big man Bobby Portis, were traded to the Miami Heat early Tuesday morning (June 23). For a package that includes Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks (including No. 13 in Tuesday’s NBA draft), one pick swap, and one second-round pick.

Of course, social media exploded with reactions once the deal was made official.
“Bro is going to be the 2nd coming of what LeBron James was to the Miami Heat,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Trading Giannis Antetokounmpo for Tyler Herro and vibes is the biggest heist in basketball history,” a second user chimed in.
The Miami Heat are giving up a lot of talent and future for Giannis. I don’t like this trade. I think Miami is on the losing end on this one,” a third user suggested.
Last season, Giannis only played 36 games for the Bucks after suffering a hyperextended knee mid-season. Which caused Milwaukee to miss the playoffs.
But at full strength, he is still one of the most dominant players in the NBA. He still put up impressive numbers of 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.
But now the question remains how Miami will fill out its roster to become a true competitor. With the addition of Giannis, the Heat now have two max players on its roster (Bam Adebayo). Without a lot of cap space remaining, it will be interesting to see what players they add.
