Legendary rap star Busta Rhymes has found himself in hot water. And it could prove to be costly.
Busta Rhymes Being Sued For $6 Million
Rhyme’s former assistant, Dashiel Gables, is seeking $6 million from the Ante Up rapper. Gables is accusing Rhymes of assaulting him in January. During an apparent dispute at the rap star’s New York City condo over him using his phone on the job
Gables stated that Rhymes repeatedly punched him in the face, which left a significant swelling in his eye. He also says that he has been a victim of unpaid wages and unlawful workplace treatment.
Gables noted that after his altercation with Rhymes, he was cut off by the rap star. And essentially barred from any further professional dealings with him. Gables also added that after he filed the police report, Rhymes retaliated. With a smear campaign and made sure that nobody else would hire him.
“This industry-wide retaliation has devastated plaintiff’s career prospects. And ability to earn a living in the only industry in which he has worked,” Gables attorneys wrote in a statement to Billboard.
However, in response to the claims made by Gables, Rhymes hit back. He “completely and categorically,” denied the claims made against him. And also noted that this is just a case of a terminated employee who worked for him “for only a brief period,” sucking on sour grapes.
“Dashiel has decided to respond to being let go by manufacturing claims against me in an attempt to attack and damage my reputation,” Rhymes wrote in a statement via Billboard.
“I look forward to proving these allegations false, and am preparing a countersuit, which I am confident will expose this for what it is — an attempted shakedown by a disgruntled former assistant. Ultimately, I am certain the truth will prevail.”
