Busta Rhymes is getting his long-overdue flowers.

The rap icon, known for his explosive energy, machine-gun flow, and larger-than-life persona, will officially be immortalized on Hollywood Boulevard. On August 1, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will award Busta Rhymes the 2,818th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognizing him in the Recording category for his decades-long contributions to music and culture.

“Busta Rhymes, one of hip-hop’s most enduring and electrifying voices,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, “has a talent and influence that are undeniable. His star on the Walk of Fame will stand as a testament to his lasting impact on hip-hop music and how important it is to the American culture.”

Born Trevor Smith in Brooklyn, Busta first made noise as part of Leaders of the New School before exploding as a solo force with his 1996 debut, *The Coming*. What followed was a relentless string of era-defining anthems—“Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check,” “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,” and “Break Ya Neck,” to name a few—that helped shape the sound and look of late ’90s and early 2000s hip-hop.

Across nearly three decades, Busta has racked up over 20 million albums sold worldwide, 12 Grammy nominations, seven Top 10 Billboard 200 debuts, and more than 60 million gold and platinum certifications. And he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Alongside the Walk of Fame honor, Busta is capitalizing on his major second wind. He’s set to release his next studio album, *Vengeance*, in September—his first full-length project since 2020’s *Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God*.

He’s also making a return to the big screen this week with a role in *The Naked Gun* reboot, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. It marks another crossover moment for the hip-hop legend who has always walked the line between music, film, and cultural spectacle.

As hip-hop continues to celebrate its milestones, Busta Rhymes’ star stands as a powerful reminder of the genre’s endurance—and of one of its most animated, consistent, and influential voices.
