The 2020 Verzuz between The Diplomats and The Lox was one of the more memorable hip-hop moments in the past couple of years. The showdown between the two rap supergroups was one of the more hyped battles in the history of the platform. But unfortunately, it didn’t end up being much of the competition.

Cam’ron Expresses Regret Over 2021 Battle With The Lox

The battle wasn’t close. It ended with the Lox winning in a landslide. Highlighted by Jadakiss showcasing his extensive solo catalog, performing what seemed like ten smash hits in a row. Years removed from the Verzuz battle, Dipset leader Cam’ron is having buyer’s remorse about even agreeing to do the event. Especially because he initially said no.

“I can name a lot of decisions that weren’t good because I was trying to be a team player. I should’ve never done the Verzuz, I told n****s don’t do the Verzuz,” Cam said during a recent episode of his sports talk show, It is What It Is. “It was the wrong decision that I made. No more of that… I’ve tried to be a team player a lot of times, but that’s the first thing that came to my mind when you said, ‘wrong decisions.'”

However, Cam’ron is not the only Dipset member who is upset at the outcome of the battle. Earlier this year, Jim Jones said that in the aftermath of the Verzuz, there was shady business going on in the background. He accused Cam’ron of cutting a side deal with Verzuz co-founder, Swizz Beatz, that made sure the Diplomats leader got paid more than the other members.

“Swizz, holla at me. You backdoored me, gave that man some business that you ain’t give all of us,” Jones said on The Breakfast Club.

However, Jones did say that he would be open to doing another Verzuz. However, he said that Swizz would have to pay him “triple” what he paid for the 2021 battle.
