Cardi B’s latest album Am I The Drama?, has found major success and now will get another honor. Last week, (March 30) Howard University announced they would offer a course on every aspect of the album’s rollout.
How Did The Course Happen?
Jasmine Young, Director of Warner Music/Blavatnik Music Business Center, will teach students about the album’s art, marketing, production, and cultural impact. Young announced the historic course on her LinkedIn.
“It validates Hip Hop as both a scholarly discipline and a living, breathing global economy,” Young posted. “(It) gives students real-time access to the strategies, storytelling, and brand architecture behind a superstar like Cardi B. Students are excited because this isn’t theory alone, it’s access, it’s proximity, it’s the REAL playbook.”
Young also posted the course will “change the trajectory of Hip Hop education by institutionalizing the study of contemporary artists at the highest level.”
Young’s industry credits span decades including work with JAY-Z, Foxy Brown, DMX and more during her time as a marketing director at Def Jam. She recently reached a major milestone being named a Billboard 2025 Global Power Player.
What Has Cardi B Been Up To?
The Grammy-winning rapper is currently on her Little Miss Drama tour, and is making noise on and off the stage. During her set in Boston, the Bronx rapper performed her diss track “Pretty & Petty,” which responds to Boston rapper BIA claiming Cardi is biting her style. After Cardi’s audacious move to play the diss track in Bia’s hometown, she made sure to tell her fans that the beef is hers only.
“Don’t bully that girl on social media,” Cardi said. “She’s gonna wanna beat the s*** out of me after today. If I see you, I see you, I don’t give a f*** it’s up and stuck. But don’t bully her on social media, I don’t like that.”
On a lighter note, Cardi had a wholesome moment with one of her major influences Lil Kim at her recent New York tour stop. Cardi brought out the legend as a surprise guest, sharing gratitude after the show on X.
“I can’t thank you enough for joining me on stage!!!” Cardi B posted. “You are forever and always the blue print and a queen and you need to NEVER forget that!!! F*** all that humble s*** you deserve to walk in your power everyday.”
Cardi is also partnering with NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani to judge a citywide jingle contest promoting free childcare for young children.
