Cardi B was facing a $24 million lawsuit for her role in a 2018 incident involving former security guard Emani Ellis. Ellis claims that during an altercation outside an OBGYN clinic, Cardi assaulted her, causing her emotional distress. However, Cardi claimed that their confrontation was strictly verbal.
Cardi B Cleared of All Charges in L.A. Assault Trial
On Tuesday, September 2, the complaint against Cardi was dismissed as she was found not liable. Following the court’s decision, she doubled down on her claim that she never assaulted Ellis.
“I’m not even playing around, even if I’m on my deathbed, I swear to God I will say it on my deathbed, I did not touch that woman. I did not touch that girl. I didn’t lay my hands on that girl,” she reiterated via CNN.
This was a big legal victory for Cardi B. However, her issues within the judicial system are far from finished.
The rap star is still facing a civil lawsuit for battery, assault, and negligence after she threw her microphone at a woman at Drais Beach Club in Las Vegas in 2023 after the concertgoer threw a cup of water at her.
Cardi addressed the incident on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club in 2024. During her appearance, she noted that she did instruct fans to splash her. But also requested that they not splash her face. And the fan took things too far, which caused her reaction.
“It was hotter than a mo*********r,” she explained. “There was a part of the show that I told people, you know, ‘splash me.’ But even when I told people ‘splash me,’ I was like, ‘be careful with the face.’”
She also added, “This b***h threw water and ice on my face, so I just automatically reacted. I didn’t even know that I was throwing it in that direction. I just threw the s**t because it’s like, ‘b***h, you hit me right in my face.’ And when I look at the video, it’s like, nah, you intended to throw that shit in my face.”
