Chance The Rapper Spits Family Friendly Protest BARS At The Emmy’s

Videos by According2HipHop

At last night’s 2017 Emmy’s Hip-Hop was represented a few times. One of the standouts was during Stephen Colbert’s opening song and dance which featured one of mainstream America’s favorite faces in Hip-Hop, Chance The Rapper.

Chance fits clever references of television shows in his singy songy raps while putting together an “I’m mainstream but I keep it real message”. Chance raps “I love television, it’s a pleasant distraction/But just imagine taking action/I like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in fact I’m addicted/But where’s the cop show where one gets convicted?”

Chance also threw a bar in the to encourage people to get out and join the protest by saying “I get it, them finales, they got you focused/But just record the show and show up at the protest”.

Chance’s tone is far from the no nonsense tone of a Chuck D, Ice Cube, or even Tupac Shakur but more of a family friendly rap activist. Check it out.
