Jay-Z appears to be in full rollout mode. This week, he unveiled two pop-up shops in Brooklyn and Manhattan to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his iconic debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Among the people in attendance was Breakfast Club host, Charlamagne the God.
Charlamagne Appears to Shade Akademiks in New Post
On Thursday (June 25), Charlamagne posted a video to his social media account of his visit to the pop-up. He looked at some of the merch that Jay-Z had released to commemorate the album. And in the clip shared by him, he appeared to take a slight at media personality DJ Akademiks.
“A lot of dope merch in here, right? Let’s see if my employee discount works. Let’s see if my Roc Nation employee discount works,” he says in the clip.
Charlamagne’s comments appeared to be in response to the accusations Akademiks made earlier this week. He called out the radio host for being an apparent mouthpiece for Roc Nation.
“It hurt my heart watching my hip hop media idol Charlemagne spit Roc Nation talking points,” Akademiks wrote in a social media post on Wednesday (June 24). “I’m speechless. I was proud of Joe Budden tho at least he’s not on script, even tho he definitely loves him some Hov. The rest of y’all shills idc. Y’all voices ain’t loud enough.”
Of course, Charlamagne’s comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“He looks dumb af.. only proving everybody’s point,” one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“If Jay-Z pulls up at the Breakfast Club, these premium haters will go crazy,” a second user chimed in.
At the time of writing, Akademiks has not responded to Charlamagne’s comments.
