Jack Harlow is in the middle of the rollout for his latest project, Monica. And amid the promotion, he made some comments about the album that landed him in hot water. And Charlamagne the God was the latest to aim at Harlow on a recent episode of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.
Charlamagne Clowns Jack Harlow Over New Album
Harlow’s latest album falls under the neo soul genre. And though some may see Harlow making the switch as a bold move that should be applauded, Charlamagne isn’t feeling it at all.
“I’m a neo-soul junkie. I love the Jill Scotts of the world, the Erykah Badus, whatever you wanna call that genre. That ain’t it, bruh,” he said during a recent episode of The Breakfast Club (via HotNewHipHop/X).
During a recent appearance on the New York Times Popcast podcast, Harlow discussed the process of recording the album. And insisted that he “got blacker” during the process. But Charlamagne feels like Harlow, making Monica do exactly the opposite.
“Let me tell you something, I like Jack Harlow. I’ve met Jack Harlow, we’ve interviewed Jack Harlow, and Jack is a nice guy. But I told y’all on Friday that this album made him whiter,” he continued. “And saying the music ‘made you blacker’ is exactly why I said this album made him whiter… You gotta be really white to say that this music made you blacker.”
Charlamagne Tha God reacts to Jack Harlow saying he "got blacker" when discussing his new album "Monica" on the NYT Popcast:

Monica earned 3.6 million streams on Spotify during its first 24 hours. This marked a significant opening, but it was also significantly lower than his previous project, Jackman, which had 8.9 million first-day streams
